New Zealand's (Marine) Taxonomy in the 21st Century
Discovering New Zealand's Undiscovered Biodiversity
Join us for an exciting exploration of New Zealand's marine biodiversity! With over 330 biogenic marine habitats identified but only 11% surveyed,
the November 2025 Workshop aims to bridge the gaps in our understanding by leveraging cutting-edge tools like
eDNA sequencing and AI-driven biodiversity assessment.
Why Participate?
It's time to discover New Zealand's hidden marine biodiversity, with over 300 biogenic habitats waiting to be explored. With this workshop, we will make a start at Omaha Bay.
Engage in hands-on sample collection and cutting-edge biodiversity assessment techniques.
Network with world-class scientists, including experts from the Smithsonian Institution, Monterey Bay Aquarium Research Institute (MBARI), and more.
Be part of shaping the future of marine taxonomy and biodiversity research.
